What’s Up This Weekend – March 11-13

BOSTON (CBS) – Irish step dancers, cartoon comedy and discount dining highlight some of the things taking place in and around Boston this weekend.

Restaurant Week Boston

If there is a restaurant around town that you’ve been meaning to try, this could be the right time. More than 200 Boston area restaurants are offering fixed price menus of $33.11 for a 3-course dinner. Some also offer lunch for $20.11 for 3 courses. You can search for participating restaurants and menus on the official Restaurant Week website.

Looney Tunes Weekend

The “international ambassadors of cartoon comedy” are on screen at the Coolidge Corner Theater this weekend. Join Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Tweety and the gang for classic Warner Bros cartoons. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for kids.

Women of Ireland

Just in time for St. Patrick’s Day, some of the best female musicians, dancers and singers or Ireland have gotten together for a special concert. The Women of Ireland in Concert takes place this evening in Lynn. It’s pure, traditional Irish and Celtic music at its best. Tickets start at $28.

A Little Bit of Ireland

Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day and the luck of the Irish with the 13th annual A Little Bit of Ireland. It’s being presented this weekend by the Reagle Music Theater of Greater Boston in Waltham. You’re in for a treat with an evening loaded with Irish music, dancing and a special performance by Broadway’s Sarah Pfisterer. Show times are Saturday at 2 and 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets start at $35.

Patriot Place Irish Festival

With St. Patrick’s Day fast approaching, they are getting into the spirit at Patriot Place in Foxboro. Beginning at 11 a.m. there will be live performances by Irish musicians and step dancers. Many of the restaurants will feature Irish menu items. There will also be face painting and giveaways.

Pancake (and Maple Syrup!) Breakfast

Eat a hearty pancake breakfast complete with real maple syrup, homemade sausage and roasted potatoes at the Sap-to-Syrup Farmer’s Breakfast. Watch the NCAA Selection Show on 135 hi def screens, as the pairings for the 2011 NCAA men’s basketball tournament are announced. Following the broadcast, guests can take part in a live Q&A session with Seth Davis of CBS Sports, appearing at the CBS Scene via satellite. Then invite your friends to join the CBS Boston Bracket Challenge to compete against local CBS personalities.

Tornado Alley

It’s the premier of the film Tornado Alley at the Mugar Omni IMAX Dome Theater. Follow Storm Chaser Sean Casey as he captures the birth of a tornado and takes you right into the heart of the storm.
