BOSTON (CBS) – Last week, the New England Patriots were getting all wrapped up in the holiday season.
This week, they are took care of the shopping.
The New England Patriots Charitable Foundation, along with Bass Pro Shops, the Vince Wilfork Foundation and the New England Patriots Alumni Club, hosted ‘Gifts From The Gridiron’ on Tuesday, giving some kids in need a chance to take care of their holiday shopping.
50 children from Massachusetts and Rhode Island homeless shelter programs were given a $400 gift card to go on a shopping spree at the Bass Pro Shop at Patriot Place on Tuesday night, picking up everything from winter jackets to toys.
But the shopping spree wasn’t just for themselves. With a Patriots player in tow, each child got to pick out one gift for a loved one as well.
Wilfork, Rob Ninkovich, and Nate Solder were among the Patriots players to attend, along with the Patriots cheerleaders and several members of the Patriots Alumni Club.
The evening also featured dinner, photos with Santa, games and music, and — of course –gift wrapping.
